A moment of inspiration

I was reminded today that inspiration can strike at what may seem the most unlikely moments. Having got up early this morning, popped to get some smart shoes for school and interviews and visited family, I once again found myself the backseat passenger in the car. Driving through Somerset and Devon there was no shortage of rain, ice and even snow. It was never at any point the brightest of days but on our way home the rain turned it gloom and it was soon becoming dark. I was strangely thinking about the assignment I'm currently writing for university. Our assignment is all about the teaching of creative writing, and we have to plan for capturing ideas, drafting and editing and reviewing and presenting. I chose to focus on Key Stage two and so was required to have the theme of pirates (an interesting theme in my opinion). So, I was thinking about this when a few words and phrases came into my mind. I didn't have a pen or paper on me and so put them on a note in my phone. I then moved them around a bit and changed a few words and within a couple of minutes I came up with this:

The mystic moon,
with it's sparkly shoon,
beaming strong and bright.
It glistens and slows,
it flickers and flows,
like a ribbon through the night.

It's not much but it just reminded me that inspiration can strike at the most random of moments and if you choose to seize it you can use it to your advantage.
